Abstract
This paper presents a technology such as Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V) that can potentially play a significant role in voltage regulation. The system can schedule day-ahead Electric Vehicle (EV) charging and discharging to reduce EV ownership and charging costs through participating in voltage regulation services. A power system with V2G/G2V integration is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment to evaluate the performance of the different control strategies. The results demonstrate that centralized control delivers the best performance in terms of frequency regulation precision, but it is also the most difficult and expensive to install. Decentralized management is quicker and cheaper to establish, but it provides a lower level of frequency management.
