Abstract
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) plays a significant role in the detection of chemicals/ biochemicals in very low concentration levels. Most metals exhibit plasmonic properties, therefore, can be used in SERS substrates. In the present computational study, gold nanoparticles of different shapes are modelled to study the electromagnetic (EM) field enhancement using finite element methods (FEM) in COMSOL Multiphysics. Simulation results show the electric field distribution and Raman enhancement for different shapes of Gold nanoparticles. This study would be helpful for designing SERS-based sensors with a high electromagnetic enhancement factor. 2022
