Abstract
A compact dual-band dual-polarized shared aperture antenna is presented in this paper. In the overall structure, both upper and lower frequency bands provide dual polarizations i.e. Linear horizontal (LH) and Linear vertical (LV). The lower frequency band consists of a loop antenna realized using two vias connected horizontally and vertically. It provides high aperture efficiency and larger gain with stacking. Upper C band antenna consists of a DRA which provides higher impedance bandwidth as well as gain. The LH and LV feeding pins of DRA are connected to the transmission line through via, which are on the back side of the ground plane. This new feeding technique overcomes the cross-talk between the signals of two frequency bands. For both bands, LH and LV can be achieved on the same frequency bands. For lower band impedance bandwidth is 48MHz (3.06MHz -3.54MHz) and the gain is 10.02dB. and for upper band impedance bandwidth is 40MHz(5.78GHz-6.18GHz) and gain is 10.78dB. Isolation between both bands is better than 20 dB.
