Abstract
This paper introduces a novel protection scheme designed for protecting multi-terminal transmission lines combined with wind energy source. With an increasing capacity of wind power installed in the world, the impact of wind generation during fault condition has been studied. Wind plants equipped with induction generator results in different fault behavior in transmission networks. After the wind plant model is developed, it is connected to an equivalent multi terminal transmission system. A fault is simulated on the transmission line so that the fault location algorithm can be applied to determine the fault location with the existence of wind plant. In this paper, the validation of wavelet fault analysis methods are performed on multi terminal transmission line connecting wind plant irrespective of the fault impedance, fault inception angle and location of the fault.
