Abstract
In high-speed electronic systems, decoupling capacitors are used in power delivery networks to reduce power supply noise by maintaining a low impedance of PDN. In this paper, the cumulative impedance of a power delivery network is reduced below the target impedance by efficient selection and placement of decoupling capacitors using metaheuristic algorithms. The paper applies a recently introduced matrix-based evolutionary computing approach in a case study of a practical power delivery network. A comparative analysis of the performance of the proposed approach with respect to the state-of-the-art algorithms is presented with the insights of practical implementation.
