A study of industrial manufacturing and testing procedures for press board transformer insulation

The insulation system of the power transformer is a critical aspect of its health condition and the failure of the insulation system can make the transformers out of service. High voltage (HV) bushings and windings are the most important components of the transformer insulation system. This paper presents a study of industrial manufacturing and testing procedures of transformer board insulation. A detailed study of the industrial manufacturing and testing procedures has been carried out in the transformer insulation manufacturing industry Umang Boards Pvt. Ltd. Jaipur. Manufacturing of the various types of pressboard transformer insulation such as calendared, pre-compressed, moldable and laminated transformer insulations board has been detailed in this paper. The testing procedures as per IEC 60641-2 have been described.
